Sai Pallavi and Sethupathi – Versatile Combo on Cards?

Director Mani Ratnam, who disappointed audiences with Thug Life, is now reportedly set to collaborate with Sai Pallavi and Vijay Sethupathi.

Billed to be a romantic entertainer, the film was initially pitched to Dhanush. Although Dhanush liked the story and was ready to collaborate with Mani Ratnam, he had to back out because of disagreements about the remuneration.

As a result, Vijay Sethupathi came on board, marking his second time collaboration with Mani Ratnam after Chekka Chivantha Vaanam. Sai Pallavi is working with Vijay Sethupathi for the first time and it is her first project with Mani Ratnam as well. It would have been interesting to see Sethupathi working with Mani Ratnam, with Sai Pallavi as the leading lady.

Vijay Sethupathi is a versatile actor, and his pairing with Sai Pallavi might come as a refreshing change to the audience. Earlier, after Dhanush quit the project, Mani Ratnam reportedly approached Simbhu for the same film.

In fact, Dhruv Vikram’s name also did the rounds. Finally, Vijay Sethupathi has been zeroed down. Even Rukmini Vasanth was considered for the leading lady but Sai Pallavi will play the female lead.

The film’s shoot is expected to begin next month. Lyca Production will bankroll the film with AR Rahman scoring the music.
