Kalki 2: All Set For The Epic Face-off?

As the first installment ended in a cliffhanger and witnessed a phenomenal box office success, the hype and hysteria surrounding the sequel to Kalki 2898AD is quite unprecedented among moviegoers and trade circles.

Another reason why Kalki 2 is carrying huge anticipation is because it will see the coming together of legendary actors Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan after four decades. They last shared screen in the 1985 film Geraftaar, directed by Prayag Raaj.

The Prabhas starrer has reportedly started rolling in Hyderabad recently without much ado. Both Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan have commenced shooting for their respective roles and the between-the-scenes pictures are currently going viral on social media platforms.

While Big B will reprise the role of Ashwatthama, Kamal is going to appear as Supreme Yaskin, a totalitarian god-king who leads the post-apocalyptic world. In Kalki 2898AD, both characters did not cross paths, leaving viewers to hanker for their confrontation in the sequel. So, there are massive expectations on their epic face-off, which is touted to be the driving factor for the narrative in the sequel.

The film is set in dystopian world inspired by the epic Mahabharata. The Supreme Yaskin rules from the ‘Complex’ while Ashwatthama is entrusted with the responsibility to protect the final avatar of Lord Vishnu. Prabhas will be the reincarnation of warrior Karna in the second part.

Directed by Nag Ashwin, the magnum opus will retain the core cast and crew for the sequel. After Deepika Padukone’s informal exit from the project, Sai Pallavi is being considered for the pivotal Sumathi’s role.
