Ranveer Singh’s much hyped sequel ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ is gearing up for a massive release worldwide on March 19th. While the expectations on the sequel are no doubt soaring high, director Ram Gopal Varma, who never minces his word while expressing his opinions, seems to have exaggerated the box office potential with his latest social media rambling.
Taking to his X account earlier today, RGV went overboard with his predictions on the Aditya Dhar directional. Calling Dhurandhar 2 an Asteroid, the maverick filmmaker said it is likely to redefine the box office standards and overpower the South Indian film industry which is currently dominating the Indian cinema.
RGV’s verbose post is filled with too much exaggeration and needless hyperbole because more than hyping Dhurandhar 2, his predictions appear to undermine the potential of upcoming South Indian films, especially pan-India Telugu movies, which are expected to rewrite numerous box office records.
Many believe that RGV is simply trying to amplify the buzz on the film by comparing it with upcoming pan-India biggies. True that Dhurandhar 2 is carrying solid expectations due to the stupendous box office success of the first part, but too much exaggeration and comparison with other films is unnecessary at this point even before its release.
There is no wrong in hyping Dhurandhar 2, but RGV should remember that several upcoming Tollywood films like Peddi, Varanasi, Kalki 2, Spirit, NTR – Neel movie, Fauzi, Allu Arjun – Atlee project etc. have the potential to shatter the existing box office records and some of them even have a strong chance to create new benchmark for Indian cinema.
