One of the biggest Indian films of the last decade, Dhurandhar 2, is scheduled for release in under 24 hours. While the film is going for paid premieres across India and in global markets, doubts loom large over content delivery due to last minute edits by the makers.
On one hand, the film is preparing for its grand theatrical release in a few hours, and on the other, there are reports about delays in the delivery of projection content.
A couple of hours ago, there were reports about the delivery of the first half to overseas locations. There were also updates about the second half, but the issue lies with the delivery of physical drives.
Considering that the AMC chain in the United States, a major revenue contributor for Indian films, relies on physical drives, this Ranveer Singh film could face show cancellations there.
Adding to this, news about censor cuts has been going viral. The domestic version is said to be five minutes shorter than the overseas version, leading to speculation.
However, the reality is that the film unit itself sent the trimmed version for the domestic print. Only 34 seconds of violent content has been removed from the Indian version. Despite this, the film still runs for 3 hours 49 minutes in India.
For a film of this scale and anticipation, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge facing such issues just hours before release is concerning. Better release planning would have been expected.
Nevertheless, advance bookings worldwide have already crossed Rs 100 crore. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film is set to create new records at the global box office with its opening.
