The Only Disappointment in Dhurandhar 2

Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge is turning out to be a cultural phenomenon at the box office just like Baahubali 2 and Pushpa 2. Besides shattering numerous records, the sequel is getting rave reviews from all quarters ever since its grand release on March 19.

While Ranveer Singh once again turned out to be a stand out performer in the sequel, other supporting actors like Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi stole the stole with their impeccable performances.

Though every artist in sequel created an indelible impression on moviegoers, one cult character is sorely missed by everyone. Who is it ?

It is none other than the ferociously intense ‘Rehman Dakait’ played by Akshaye Khanna. Without him and despite everything else, there is feeling that something is still missing in the sequel. This is because of the strong viceral impact created by Akshaye Khanna with his singular performance in the first part.

Missing Rehman Dakait means missing his style and impromptu dances which were the major highlights for the first part. Akshaye Khanna dominated every co-star and his menacing act was the biggest selling point for Dhurandhar. Even critics also rated him so high and lauded his screen presence.

Though his character dies towards the end of the first part, many believed that the sequel would feature his backstory at least for a brief time and hoped to see Akshaye Khanna unleash his best performance again. But, the sequel disappointed audiences in this aspect.

Imagine the more box office mayhem the film would have created had the makers retained Akshaye Khanna’s character in the sequel at least for a few minutes unlike ending it briefly immediately after at the start.

Even Akshaye Khanna’s on-screen wife Saumya Tandon also admitted that she badly missed Rehman Dakait in the sequel. Saumya said she missed her co-star during the making of the second instalment, calling his absence one of the toughest parts of the experience. This sums up how audiences badly missed his character in the sequel.
