Immediately after the super success of Mahavatar Narasimha, Producer Naga Vamsi announced Vayuputra, an animation film with Chandoo Mondeti as the director. However, we are told the project has been put on hold.
The script turned out to be very exciting and the Pre-production occurred. They planned to make the film on a large scale using Animatronics, Motion Capture, etc. However, the catch is that on paper, the technology alone costs about 38 Crores.
Remunerations, music, etc will cost even more, bringing the total to 50-55 Crore or even more by completion.
Sithara Entertainments has a very good reputation with Netflix. Their films did extremely well on the Platform. However, the OTT Platform was not offering more than 15-20 Crore leaving a big risk for the theatrical market.
Naga Vamsi was reportedly not ready to bet so much on the theatrical market given the prevailing challenging conditions and thus dropped the idea.
However, there is no final confirmation from either Naga Vamsi or Chandoo Mondeti about the project being shelved. For now, it appears to be on hold, and we will have to wait and see what decision they take in the coming days.
