Jailer’s Momentum Shaken by Cameo Confusion?

After the start of the pan India phenomenon in Indian cinema, it is becoming increasingly common for film makers to bring actors from other language industries to expand the market of their film .

To put that into perspective, we have Jailer 2 which is in production now. The makers of this Rajinikanth film had been trying to onboard a Telugu star for a crucial cameo appearance in the film for a while now.

First, they were in discussion with Nandamuri Balakrishna for an elongated period of time, and everyone thought this would materialise, and it would be a great opportunity to watch Balayya and Rajini on screen. However, this did not conceptualise as expected as Balayya politely turned down the opportunity later.

Then the makers reportedly approached Pawan Kalyan, and this excited fans to an extent. However, considering the busy political commitments of Kalyan, he might not be able to shoot at dedicated schedules for the Rajinikanth film. So he has reportedly turned down this opportunity.

With two of the dynamic Telugu stars like Pawan Kalyan and Balayya, turning down the opportunity, it has to be seen who would be the next natural choice for this role.

Considering the tremendous success of the first part in Telugu, despite the lack of any Telugu superstar, the makers will now look to make the sequel a whole lot bigger. They should be perfectly aware of the fact that the addition of a Telugu star will enhance the canvas of this film, and they are evidently trying to materialise the same.

But one concerning aspect the team should take note of is that this much uncertainty, especially closer to the film’s release timeline, is not a good sign. The ongoing confusion around the cameo could potentially affect the film’s buzz in a negative way.

Nelson must ensure that this entire cameo episode is handled very discreetly, without unnecessary leaks, so that it avoids further speculation and also delivers a strong impact when revealed on screen.
