We at Gulte sat with Gayapadda Simham director Kasyap Sreenivas, and his journey is anything but easy. Starting with a short film back in 2010, he expected a quick finish but it stretched for years due to constant hurdles. With no strong backing from family or industry, he continued making short films and slowly built his space. What stands out is his consistency even when things were not moving in his favor.
By 2012 and 2013, he had already worked on multiple short films and even experimented with a web series much before the OTT wave began. At a time when digital platforms were not mainstream, this move showed his instinct to explore new formats. However, early film offers did not go as planned, with unreliable producers delaying his big screen entry and pushing him back to creating content independently.
A major turning point came when he focused on self improvement. From 2018, he started reading books on psychology, history, and biographies which helped him shape stronger characters and grounded stories. His association with filmmakers like Tarun Bhaskar and other creative minds from the short film circuit also played a key role in refining his craft and understanding of cinema.
Now, he is gearing up for his feature film Gayapadda Simham. Produced by Saptaswa Media Works, POV Stories, and Zee Studios, with Pavan Sadineni presenting, the film is set to hit the screens on May 1st. He describes it as a multi genre story rooted in real life emotions, blending comedy, drama, and action in an organic way.
Looking back, he says success is not just about effort but also about timing. Instead of chasing quick fame, he believes in steady growth through small goals. With OTT platforms and new technology opening doors, he feels this is the right phase for storytellers like him. After years of struggle and learning, the Gayapadda Simham director now seems ready to make a strong mark.
