Censor Board Compounding The Problems Of Small Films!

A small film, Deewana has released yesterday. The movie was supposed to release on Friday with Thursday Premieres but then, it had to defer until Saturday because of Censor issues.

The Censor Board offered to give ‘A’ certificate for the film due to some lip lock scenes. The makers had to run pillar to post at the last-minute and trimmed all such scenes to get ‘U/A’ certificate. Even then, the Censor Board refused and gave only ‘A’ certificate.

Those who watched the film including the writer of this story were shocked to find nothing in the film to give ‘A’ certificate.

Censor Board has become a pain point for small films in recent times while the big films get a pass.

Papam Pratap team also had to run pillar to post at the last-minute messing up their Premieres Strategy.

Dhandoraa had to miss out Premieres completely. It emerged as a costly move for the film in competition.

And now, Deewana also lost its fizz due to the one day delay. And then, the ‘A’ certificate for no reason only complicated things.

The Censor Board should somehow help the small films which are already on ventilator. But to go after them in the last-minute and compound their problems is something really unfortunate.
