Saiyaara was one of the biggest hits in recent times which collected around 500 crore, and the major reason for the film’s success was its outstanding music, especially its title track. But now, shockingly, the composer of this song, Tanishk Bagchi, has revealed that he is yet to receive around Rs 8 lakh in royalty payments for the hugely successful title track.
Taking to social media, the composer stated that the issue is not about sympathy but about giving proper value to creative work. Saiyaara’s title track became a massive hit and played a key role in the film’s popularity.
Even in the past, Tanishk has often spoken about how the music industry does not reward musicians despite the success their songs generate. On the other hand, responding to Tanishk’s comments, Yash Raj Films issued a statement saying that all dues had already been cleared.
This has created confusion, with both sides presenting different versions of the matter. Tanishk had previously criticized the royalty system by saying composers often do not receive their fair share despite delivering chartbuster songs.
This controversy has once again brought attention to the challenges faced by music composers behind some of the industry’s biggest hits. For now, fans are waiting to see how the issue is resolved.
