The makers of Korean Kanakaraju took their promotional campaign to Anantapur for the launch of the film’s energetic folk number Raasa Gummadi, with Mega Prince Varun Tej, director Merlapaka Gandhi and producer Rajeev Reddy gracing the occasion and explaining how the region forms the soul of the movie.
Merlapaka Gandhi said the film’s story is set in and around Anantapur, making it essential to shoot in the real locations. Hailing from Tirupati himself, the director said Rayalaseema has always been close to his heart and praised Varun Tej for embracing the local culture with complete dedication.
“Since the story is set in and around Anantapur, Varun himself wanted to shoot the film there. He has also mastered the Anantapur dialect remarkably well. This song is just a glimpse of what’s in store- his dialogues and action sequences in the film will be equally impressive. The comedy featuring Varun and Satya, along with Ritika’s screen presence, will be among the movie’s biggest highlights. Since Anantapur is home to the Kia manufacturing plant, there’s also an interesting Korea connection that ties in perfectly with the film.”
Varun Tej expressed happiness over launching the song in Anantapur, saying the place deserved to host the event because it gave life to the story. He noted that the makers wanted the outdoor promotions to begin from the land that inspired the film.
The actor disclosed that he approached the dance number with the spirit of his beloved Pedda Nanna (Megastar Chiranjeevi), aiming to recreate the same infectious energy. He admitted that he would have loved to perform on stage with fans if not for his leg injury, which is still healing.
