Will Chennai Love Story Face Heat From Spider-Man?

Kiran Abbavaram’s Chennai Love Story has emerged as a winner at the box office. After posting impressive numbers over its opening weekend, the romantic drama has managed to hold reasonably well on weekdays.

However, the real challenge for the film is yet to begin. According to trade reports, Chennai Love Story still needs to collect nearly ₹20 crore more to enter the profit zone. This makes the upcoming second weekend extremely crucial for the Kiran Abbavaram film.

The makers were hoping for a smooth run over the next few days, but a major Hollywood release, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is releasing on Thursday, and the bookings in the Telugu states are said to be humongous. The superhero franchise enjoys a massive fan base among young audiences, and the opening weekend numbers will surely be good.

A similar situation was witnessed recently with Lenin. Despite enjoying a successful run, the Akhil Akkineni starrer saw some impact after the release of The Odyssey, which attracted decent crowds in Telugu states.

That said, Chennai Love Story has largely appealed to family audiences and youngsters looking for emotional entertainment. All eyes are now on the second weekend. It will be interesting to see whether Chennai Love Story can withstand the Spider-Man storm and march towards profitability.
