Is Bollywood Desperately Targeting Sai Pallavi?

The Ramayana trailer has sparked plenty of discussions online. While the film’s visuals and VFX have received mixed reactions, another debate has unexpectedly shifted towards Sai Pallavi’s portrayal of Sita.

What is surprising is that the criticism is not coming from Bollywood circles alone. A section of movie enthusiasts from the South has also started questioning whether Sai Pallavi is the right choice, even before watching her complete performance.

Sai Pallavi has never built her career purely on glamour or screen elegance. She is widely admired for her versatility, natural acting and ability to bring emotional depth to every character. That has always been her biggest strength.

Casting a performer like Sai Pallavi for Sita is clearly a creative decision. Judging her based on a few seconds of trailer footage hardly does justice to either the actor or the character she is portraying.

If a glamorous Bollywood actress had played Sita, would the discussion have been the same? That is a question many are asking. The criticism directed at Sai Pallavi appears far more intense than what the trailer alone justifies.

Epic characters have always been remembered because of the performances delivered on screen, not because of first look posters or trailer glimpses. History has proved that time and again.

Instead of rushing to conclusions, audiences should wait for Ramayana to release this Diwali. Only after watching the complete film can Sai Pallavi’s portrayal of Sita be judged fairly. Until then, the desperate trolling seems both premature and unnecessary.
