Varun Tej has always been one of the few Telugu actors who refused to stick to a single genre. While many stars built their careers around a particular image, Varun experimented with different kinds of films.
In an exclusive interview with Gulte pro, Varun revealed why he adopted this approach and why he still does not consider it a mistake. Varun said he was inspired by Bollywood star Aamir Khan, who is known for choosing diverse subjects and still being successful.
From Kanche and Tholi Prema to Antariksham, F2, and Ghani, Varun consciously picked films from different genres. His goal was to stand out from other actors and build a unique identity. Varun says, “I always knew it would be a long journey and that the results of such experimentation would only be visible over time. However, things have not gone as planned, and I faced flops”.
While Tholi Prema and F2 were successful, several of his recent films failed at the box office, leading many to question Varun’s choices. The mega hero says the criticism is understandable, but he still believes there was nothing wrong with trying something different.
At the same time, Varun feels audiences currently want pure entertainment, and he is ready to give them that. His upcoming film, Korean Kanakaraju, is releasing on August 7, and Varun will be seen in a fun-filled role and hopes the entertainer will connect with audiences and bring him back.
