Suriya was going through a series of flops and had to make a comeback with RJ Balaji’s Karuppu, which he also produced. The film faced several delays, and a few shows were even canceled due to financial issues.
For the first time, Suriya has opened up in his interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Speaking about the financial hurdles, Suriya revealed the issue happened at the last minute. He said the situation forced him to take loans that were far beyond his comfort zone.
Suriya thanked Jyotika for standing by him during the difficult phase. He shared that taking such a huge financial commitment was not an easy decision, but he was willing to take the chance for the film.
He added that if things had gone wrong, the entire family would have had to face the consequences together. Fortunately, the gamble paid off, and things eventually worked out in their favor.
Responding to Suriya’s comments, Jyotika said she did not want to take credit for the decision. However, she emphasized that they always stand together as a family and are always on the same side when it comes to solving problems.
After its release, Karuppu made big money, and Suriya was so happy that he gifted luxury cars to the music director Sai Abhyankar and the editor. As of now, Suriya is busy with the promotions of his new film Vishwanath & Sons, directed by Venky Atluri, and it hits the screens on August 14, 2026.
