Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana has found itself at the center of a controversy even before its release. According to reports, the President of the Shri Ramlila Mahasangh has demanded a special pre-release screening of the film.
Going into details, the organization expressed dissatisfaction with the teaser and trailer that were released recently. The association has now stated that it wants to review the film before it reaches theatres.
Not stopping there, they have also warned that if the movie contains any content that allegedly hurts Hindu sentiments, protests will be staged outside cinema halls during the release period.
The demand has sparked debate on social media. Netizens are questioning the need for such a screening when India already has a censor board which raises objections if required before granting clearance for release.
Industry insiders say that parallel screenings could create unnecessary complications for filmmakers and create drama during the time of its release. Meanwhile, Ramayana has Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, Rakul Preet Singh, Kajal Aggarwal, Vivek Oberoi, and Arun Govil.
