Anakapalli To Decide Its Own Film First

The makers of Anakapalli, starring Vikram Sahidev and directed by Khagesh Thammineni, have taken an unusual route ahead of the film’s release.

Instead of sticking to the previously announced August 7 worldwide release, the team has decided to first place the film in front of the people who inspired it the most, the audience of Anakapalli.

The decision comes after the film received an exceptional response during a special screening for distributors.

Many of them reportedly felt that the rooted story and rustic backdrop would appeal not only to Telugu audiences but also to viewers in Tamil Nadu. They even suggested dubbing the film into Tamil and exploring other South Indian markets.

The growing interest from OTT platforms has further encouraged the team to rethink its release strategy. Rather than rushing the film into theatres, the makers want to evaluate every opportunity and plan a bigger launch.

Before taking that step, however, they want one opinion above all others- the opinion of the people of Anakapalli.

Since the story is set in Anakapalli, a major portion of the film was shot there, and even the producer Kandregula Naidu belongs to the town, the team believes the first audience should be the local people themselves.

Around four to five special public screenings will be held in Anakapalli before the theatrical release.

Interestingly, the film will be screened only in Anakapalli on August 7. Based on the response from those shows, the makers will finalize the wider release across the Telugu states and Tamil Nadu.
