Nayanthara is one of the fewest heroines of the present era to stand the test of time and emerge as a lady superstar with her longevity. She scored numerous blockbusters and built a unique image among her contemporaries.
While most of the leading South female stars like Samantha, Trisha and Kajal Aggarwal actively promote their films, Nayantara for unknown reasons distanced herself from promotional events and let her work speak for itself. This decision though received some criticism still suited the phase of her career when she was carrying films on her shoulders as the leading lady.
Surprisingly, she turned up for the promotional event of her upcoming film Toxic, which stars Yash in the lead role, and turned the spotlight. Rather than looking her renewed decision as a break from an old habit, it can be seen as a practical move that reflects how the film industry is changing.
Especially, a film like Toxic, which has faced so many challenges from the start because of controversies and other issues, requires strong aggressive promotional campaign not just from Yash but also from the entire cast as well because of the high budget and efforts involved.
Moreover, Toxic garnered huge attention because of the ensemble female cast. Along with Nayanthara, the cast includes Kiara Advani, Rukmini Vasanth, Tara Sutaria and Huma Qureshi. Each actress brings her own popularity and fan base.
In such a star studded affair, every public appearance naturally attracts attention to the entire cast instead of just one individual. By joining the promotions, Nayanthara becomes an active part of that collective energy rather than remaining absent from it.
Had Nayantara skipped the event just like she did for many of her previous outings, other happening actresses could have dominated her. This could have further given chance for critics to point out Nayantara after the film’s release as well.
When experienced stars like Nayantara, Huma and Kiara stand alongside younger and equally popular actresses, it reflects mutual respect and strengthens the film’s overall appeal.
Her presence also sends a positive message about teamwork of Toxic. Promotional events are no longer viewed as competitions between actors, but for the well being of the film and to help the producer.
Besides the promotions of the film, this decision could also work in her favour as it will increase her public visibility and help her engage with fans like most of the heroines doing nowadays.
