SS Rajamouli’s ambitious film Varanasi is moving ahead at an impressive pace. According to the producer SS Karthikeya, the entire shoot is expected to be wrapped up by the end of October, while Mahesh Babu is likely to complete his portions by next week.
When the project was announced, many believed it would take more than two years to complete because of its massive scale, multiple timelines, and extensive visual effects requirements. However, Rajamouli appears to have executed his plan remarkably well.
If the current schedule remains intact, the film will finish production in less than two years from the start. This is a notable achievement considering the scale of the project. Rajamouli is known for delaying his films, but such a large film being completed on schedule has surprised many in the industry.
That said, the shoot is only one part of the journey. The real challenge lies in post-production, which is expected to be extensive. Varanasi features a significant amount of VFX work, including a crucial episode linked to the Ramayana. While some visual effects work has already been completed, a substantial amount still remains.
Industry circles believe the team will aim to finish the post-production by March so that promotions can begin in full swing. For now, the biggest positive for the team is that filming is nearing completion, keeping the project firmly on track for its planned release on April 7, 2027.
