‘I’m The Only Actress After Sridevi To Do Comedy’

On the occasion of 10 years completion of romantic-comedy drama, Tanu weds Manu, Kangana Ranaut has claimed that she is the only actress after late superstar Sridevi to have done comedy under the ‘female comedy’ category. Tanu weds Manu starred Kangana and Madhavan under Aanand L Rai’s direction in 2011.

“I was stuck in edgy/neurotic roles, this film changed the trajectory of my career, was my entry into the mainstream that too with comedy, with Queen and Datto I strengthened my comic timing and became the only actress after legendary Sridevi Ji to do comedy #10yearsoftanuwedsmanu,” Kangana Ranaut tweeted.

She also tweeted, “Thanks to @aanandlrai and our writer Himanshu Sharma for this franchise, when they came to me as struggling makers I thought I can make their careers but instead they made my career, one can never tell which film will work and which won’t, all destiny, glad my destiny has you”.

Director Aanand Rai, too, took to Instagram to celebrate the milestone of his film’s release. He wrote: “Someone said so beautifully…Nothing of me is original, I am the combined effort of everyone I have ever known. Thank you for giving me my identity Thank you for making me Woh Tanu weds Manu wala Aanand Rai. Thank you.”

On the other hand, netizens mocked Kangana as she always carries her overconfidence without self-effacement. And comparing herself with Sridevi is nothing but being haughty. Too much pride can be obnoxious and Twitterati pointed the same in her.

On the work front, Kangana who is busy with her F&B business is back from Manali and she also announced the release date of Thalaivi yesterday on the occasion of J Jayalalithaa’s 73rd birth anniversary. The film will release on April 23, 2021. The actress also wrapped up Dhaakad’s first schedule. The film is helmed by Razneesh Ghai and produced by Sohail Maklai. It will release on October 1, 2021.
