#Indian2: Shankar Gets Partial Relief

Published by

South India’s ace director Shankar has received a small relief from the Madras High Court in connection with the legal battle with one of Tamil cinema’s leading production house, Lyca Productions. Apparently Lyca has dragged Shankar to the court for not wrapping up ‘Indian 2’ starring Universal hero Kamal Haasan and moving on to his next.

This case came for hearing on Friday and the advocate on behalf of Lyca placed their argument before the court. “Initially the film’s budget was fixed at Rs 150 crore but it shoot up to Rs 236 crore. Despite the odds, eighty percent of the film’s shooting got completed. But without finishing the job, Shankar has moved on this next. We urge the court to give an interim stay on Shankar’s future project,” informed Lyca’s advocate to the court.

On the remuneration of director Shankar, “We have agreed to pay Rs 40 crore and an advance of Rs 14 crore was paid. We are ready to clear the dues of Rs 26 crore in the form of fixed deposit bonds,” added Lyca’s lawyer.

After learning these details, the Jugde PT Asha ruled out issuing an interim stay but sought an explanation from director Shankar and scheduled the next hearing on April 15th.
