Actress Trolled For Skin Color; Files Police Complaint

Film actors find it easier to get in touch with their fans and followers through social media, but that does come with a good number of abusive followers too. A television actress got trolled for her skin color.

Bengali television actress Shruti Das debuted in Bengali soap Trinayani in 2019, and she had been shamed and trolled for her skin color for the last two years. She ignored for all these months but as the attacks have become more and personal. Shruti Das finally filed a police complaint against the trolls and abuse.

Shruti Das said ‘Initially, everyone around asked me to ignore the trolls, and so did I. But it only got more vicious with time. I am in a steady relationship with the director of my first TV serial ‘Trinayani’, and the hate brigade, after getting to know that, has been making distasteful remarks, questioning my character and my talent. I thought if I take it lying down any further, it would only give them more reasons to continue with this hatred,” the 25-year-old, who now plays the lead role in “Desher Maati” series.’

Shruti tagged the Kolkata Police on Facebook when she posted the vulgar trolls she had been getting. Shruti also said many in the industry too had made her skin color a topic of discussion and many even said she wouldn’t have a chance to act again if she wasn’t wearing the right makeup.
