Bhartha Mahasayulaki Wignyapthi Review

In total, Raviteja has delivered eight back-to-back flops since 2022. After scoring a huge blockbuster with ‘Krack’ in 2021, he tried to make films across multiple genres, but none of them helped him score a hit. At a time in his career when the need of the hour for him is to deliver a successful film at any cost, he decided to try his luck with a family entertainer film. A family entertainer film for Sankranthi season with a sensible director like Kishore Tirumala – looked like the right recipe for Raviteja to get back onto the success track.

The writer and director, Kishore Tirumala, is known for his ability to churn out sensible films with good music. When the movie in the combination of Raviteja and Kishore Tirumala, was announced, and when the makers of the film announced the title of the film as ‘Bhartha Mahasayulaki Wignyapthi’, it was expected that the duo was going to come up with a non-stop comedy entertainer. After quickly finishing the production in around five months, the film was released in theatres today. Did Raviteja, finally score a hit film? Did the director, Kishore Tirumala, bounce back, after scoring a flop with ‘Aadavallu Meeku Johaarlu’, in 2022? Did the music director, Bheems Ceciroleo, score yet another chartbuster album for a film, starring Raviteja? How did Ravi Teja’s, pairing with Ashika Ranganath & Dimple Hayathi, look on screen? Let’s figure it out with a detailed analysis.

What is it about?

Ram Satyanarayana(Raviteja) and Balamani(Dimple Hayathi), a happily married couple, own a vineyard and manage a wine brand ‘Anarkali’. In an attempt to expand their business overseas, the couple submit a proposal to a spirits company based in Spain. When the company in Spain, rejects their proposal, Ram, decides to go to Spain and convince the people managing the spirits company. During his trip to Spain, he meets, Manasa Shetty(Ashika Ranganath), and ends up getting physical with her. What challenges did Ram face after getting physical with, Manasa? What did, Balamani do, when she got to know about Ram’s relationship with Manasa? What did, Manasa do, when she got to know that Ram, hid the truth about his marriage? Forms the rest of the story.

Performances:

Bhartha Mahasayulaki Wignyapthi is a welcome change for Raviteja from the serious films, he has been doing in the last few years. He delivered an energetic performance in most parts of the film. His dance moves in the DJ mix song, worked out well. Ashika Ranganath & Dimple Hayathi, in the roles of the girlfriend and wife, did their part in a good way. Especially, Ashika Ranganath’s role has multiple shades and she utilised it well.

Sunil, Satya, Vennela Kishore, Getup Srinu, Muralidhar Goud & Ajay Ghosh & Rohan – the film had enough comedians and all of them generated a few laughs here and there. Vennela Kishore and Muralidhar Goud, scored more marks compared to other character artists in the film. Satya’s episodes in the first half and both the scenes on Ajay Ghosh, tested patience. However, Satya generated enough laughs in the pre-climax sequence.

Technicalities:

Bheems Ceciroleo came up with two good songs and his background music suited the mood of the film well. Overall, his work for the film is decent. Prasad Murella’s cinematography is adequate. He delivered what is required for the genre of the film. And, the same goes with the editor, A. Sreekar Prasad’s, work for the film. All the technicians delivered the output that is required for the genre. Production values provided by the producer, Sudhakar Cherukuri, are neat. Let’s talk about the writer and director, Kishore Tirumala’s work in detail in the analysis section.

Positives:

1. Comedy In The Second Half
2. Two Songs
3. DJ Mix & Dumb Charades Episodes

Negatives:

1. First Half
2. Inconsistent Writing
3. Lack of Organic Humour
4. Weak Climax

Analysis:

Kishore Tirumala is known for his sensible writing and his ability to come up with feel-good lighter vein films. Though his stories in films like, Nenu Sailaja and Chitralahari, were simple, he made those two films in a very gripping way by using his writing skills. After delivering a flop with ‘Aadavallu Meeku Johaarlu’, he took a gap of about three years and selected the storyline of ‘A husband, a wife and the other woman’, for his new film, Bhartha Mahasayulaki Wignyapthi’. During the promotions of the film, he said that the concept of ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’, may sound familiar but the two questions, both female lead characters, ask the male lead character, when they get to know about the ‘truth’, are unique and have never been discussed in any film in the past. But, when we watch the movie, we get to know that Kishore was not exactly right. There is no uniqueness in those two questions and they were discussed multiple times in the past in films of a similar kind. Both the questions and the answers the male lead actor provides to his wife and girlfriend, during the climax of the film did not yield the desired impact. Writing, especially for the climax would have been a bit better.

Films like, Evandi Aavida Vachindi, Intlo Illalu Vantintlo Priyuralu, Aavida Maa Aavide, Sankranthiki Vasthunam, etc., were made on a similar concept in the past in Telugu and entertained the audience heavily. Especially, during the Sankranthi season, if well-made, the films of this genre, have a huge potential to become blockbusters. So, the genre and the season, Kishore Tirumala, selected are apt. He took a familiar concept and blended it with enough comedy. Especially, three to four comedy portions in the second half worked out well. The DJ mix song, Dumb Charades episode, comedy episode in the hotel on Vennela Kishore, Muralidhar Goud and Sunil, generated some laugh-out-loud comedy. The DJ mix dance number, with the daily serial title songs, worked out big time in the second half in favour of the film. Also, the pre-interval episode with the song, Edukondalavada Venkatesa, in the background worked out well.

On the flipside, the first half, especially the Spain episode, could have been better. The entire first half looked rushed. Also, instead of generating organic humour, Kishore Tirumala, the writer of the film, used way too many ‘social media-driven meme’ references to generate fun. It was surprising to see a writer of Kishore Tirumala’s capability, using social media meme references, to generate comedy, instead of relying on his core strength and coming up with clean organic comedy. It felt as if like the director and the writer, Kishore Tirumala, wanted to do anything and everything, to score a hit film. ‘The kerosene’ plot on Sunil, is one such sequence, where the director went out of his comfort zone and tried to generate below-the-belt comedy.

Overall, if you are looking to go to a theatre along with friends and family and watch a film, that offers some mindless entertainment, you can give, Bhartha Mahasayulaki Wignyapthi, a try. It offers a few laughs here and there, along with a couple of good songs. Better care writing, would have made the film a perfect entertainer but now, what we get to see is a decent fun-filled film.

Final Verdict – Fun Ride In Parts

Rating – 2.5/5
