RGV Announces ‘Bhaaryalu’, A Web Series On Wives

Ram Gopal Varma is an enigma, who is known for breaking societal rules with his movies. He is the face of experimental non-genre specific films. After showing the audience his knack for bold films, supernatural themes, and many flicks with sync sound as opposed to the conventional dubbing techniques, RGV comes with an update that once again has a novelty yet eccentric substance in it.

RGV announces that he is producing a series “Bhaaryalu” and it is aimed to showcase different types of “troublesome” wives that according to him, is an ordeal in a man’s life. “Producing a series “Bhaaryalu” or How a man’s life gets ducked by what kind of wife he gets. This is a must-watch before marriage series,” he wrote.

The series is being helmed by Raj and Chaitanya Rao, 30 weds 21 fame will feature in the series. RGV also posted a video that has his voiceover, explaining the concept. The series will portray many personalities of wives in the world and each episode has a storyline based on one kind.

RGV also revealed that the series will be showing types of wives such as the woman who always gets emotional, women who fight a lot, who talks on the phone round the clock, one who suspects her husband for everything, aggressive woman, dominating wife, and condescending wife. These kinds of women will be depicted in season 1 through each episode.

He also said that there is season 2 which will show the types of husbands, “rakarakala bhartalu”. Once agin, RGV speaks on a sensitive topic in society and this might trigger not so good vibes among women viewers for a presumed defaming of a woman’s characteristics, The beautiful commitment, marriage depends on person to person and we wonder how the series can successfully generalize on its vulnerabilities. We need to wait and see.

Moreover, with his words, it can also be fathomed that demeaning wives is quite possible which can be highly judgmental in the long run. It’s time for us to ignore the light humour again and remember that not all wives are attackers and not all husbands are victims. Or vice-versa.
