Sunrisers Hyderabad put up one of their best performances in the IPL last night as they were absolutely brilliant with the bat against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
It is a fact that Hyderabad was able to humble Bengaluru by a considerable margin, but the end result is not entirely satisfactory for the Hyderabad team in the context of IPL standings.
Hyderabad needed to restrict Bengaluru to a score below 169 runs to secure the top two spot. But Bengaluru were very considerate about this target, and they played in a very calculated manner as they just wanted to reach 170 and they ended up reaching 200 eventually.
Subsequently, the aggressive brand of Cricket that was established by Hyderabad was still not enough to restrict Bengaluru to below 169.
As a result, Hyderabad is unable to stand in the top two position on the points table and will have to play the eliminator now.
It needs to be noted that the earlier poor performance against Punjab where Hyderabad got restricted to just 80 runs has played a significant role now. Hyderabad been more considerate in the run chase then, they could’ve ended up in top 2 positions this year.
