For director Shiva Nirvana, the success of Irumudi is more than another blockbuster milestone in his career. The film starring Mass Maharaja ravi Teja has given him a renewed sense of confidence and creative freedom, encouraging him to explore stories beyond the image associated with his earlier films.
Speaking at the film’s Generational Blockbuster celebration, Shiva Nirvana said Irumudi has changed the way he views his creative journey and allowed him to move beyond the perception that he is primarily a filmmaker known for light-hearted and emotional stories.
“When I made films like Ninnu Kori and Majili, there was an opinion that Shiva Nirvana makes good light-hearted movies. Personally, what Irumudi gave me is the confidence and freedom that a Shiva Nirvana film can be anything. Now, I can explore more,” he said.
The director also credited the film’s unique combination of devotional, crime and emotional elements for its strong connection with audiences. According to him, the seamless blending of these different layers played a key role in the film’s theatrical success. “The three layers blending together definitely worked. Telugu audiences completely owned the film in theatres,” Shiva Nirvana said.
He further explained that the film’s social commentary was deliberately woven into the narrative rather than presented as a separate message. The director wanted to address several issues faced by women while ensuring that the themes remained an organic part of the story.
“When I thought about the different areas where a girl faces problems, I wanted to speak about all those issues in a hard-hitting way. There are poisonous elements in every system, and I wanted to talk about some of those people,” he explained.
The producers credited both Ravi Teja and Shiva Nirvana for the film’s phenomenal run. They highlighted the film’s reach across different sections of the audience, including elderly viewers, while noting that its box-office performance has far exceeded their initial expectations.
“Even elderly people are coming to theatres and watching the movie. Irumudi has made two to three times more than what we expected. The film is growing day by day. We always felt Ravi Teja was the perfect choice, and it proved right. Irumudi is a very comfortable film made within the time frame and budget,” the producers said.
The film has now crossed the 200 crore mark, becoming the first movie in Ravi Teja’s career to achieve the milestone. With its strong theatrical run continuing, Irumudi has emerged as a major commercial success for the actor, director and the entire team.
