A video showing Deputy CM Of Delhi, PWD Minister Parvesh Verma allegedly slapping a young man during a road inspection in Tilak Nagar has triggered a political controversy. The incident happened while Verma was inspecting a newly laid road, with AAP MLA Jarnail Singh and his supporters present at the spot.
The video appears to show Verma pushing down the man’s mobile phone before allegedly slapping him. The man was identified as Sahib Singh, who said he works with Jarnail Singh’s social media team and was recording the inspection. He alleged that Verma assaulted him and that people accompanying the minister later threatened him. Singh has submitted a complaint to Delhi Police, which said the facts were being verified.
The confrontation reportedly began after questions were raised over the quality of the newly constructed road. Jarnail Singh was seen pulling out portions of the road surface and questioning the work. AAP leaders subsequently demanded action against Verma, while former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal called for the minister’s arrest and said he would visit the area.
Verma has given a different version of the incident. He said the video being circulated does not show the complete context and alleged that a person accompanying the AAP MLA abused his family. Verma said he reacted in the heat of the moment. He also accused Jarnail Singh of seeking a commission in connection with the road work, a claim Singh and AAP leaders have not accepted.
