Elon Musk vs Trump: Is a New Political Party on the Horizon?

US tech billionaire Elon Musk has issued a fresh threat to all Republicans who have been voicing their support for US President Donald Trump’s controversial “Big, Beautiful Bill.’ Musk has been taking on the Trump government’s tax and domestic policy, which has been under constant debate in the US Senate for the past few days.

Taking to X, Musk penned down a series of posts. He disapproved of the bill’s massive spending and cautioned that Republican lawmakers who vote for it could face “primary challenges” in the upcoming election cycle. He went on to state that any Congress member who campaigned on the reduction of government spending and also supported the bill’s record debt increase should “hang their head in shame.”

Musk also suggested that the passage of the bill would lead to a new political group: the “America Party.” The Tesla honcho further argued that the bill raises the US debt ceiling by $5 trillion and lashed out at the Republican and Democrat parties for being unresponsive to the public’s demands.

Musk alleged that both Republican and Democratic parties are operating as a “uniparty,” prioritizing their own interests. Musk also highlighted that Americans needed a new political alternative to give them a real active voice.

Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill is primarily supported by the Republicans, although it faces minor opposition within the party. A few Republicans raised their voices against the cuts to Medicaid and the bill’s failure to bring down government spending.

However, Donald Trump vociferously urged Republicans to support the bill and not betray his agenda. With the Senate gearing up for a final vote on the bill, the House of Representatives should approve modifications suggested by the Senate before forwarding the bill for President Trump’s signature.

Musk suggested that the spending provisions mentioned in the bill would significantly add to the increasing debt in America and worsen the nation’s financial hardships. It’s worth mentioning that Musk had publicly opposed both Democrats and Republicans over taxes, government regulation, and the future of the US economy.

Whether or not there would be any takers for his call for a new American political party and positioning himself as a frontrunner in shaping US politics remains to be seen.
