H-1B Visa Alert: Microsoft Tells Workers to Return to US Before Sep 21st

Microsoft has told employees with H-1B and H-4 visas who are outside the US to return quickly. This comes ahead of a September 21 deadline set by President Donald Trump.

The US government is introducing a new rule that charges $100,000 per year for each H-1B visa. The rule starts on September 21 and will stay for 12 months. The aim is to make companies hire more Americans.

Microsoft has advised its H-1B workers already in the US to stay and continue working, and H-4 visa holders (usually spouses) to remain in the country. “We strongly recommend H-1B and H-4 visa holders return to the US before the deadline,” the company said.

Most H-1B visa holders, about 71%, are from India, working for companies like Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, and TCS. The new fee will make it expensive for companies to keep these skilled workers.
