A tragic shooting took place at a coastal bar in Southport, North Carolina, on Saturday night when a gunman opened fire from a boat. Officials confirmed that three people were killed and at least eight others were injured in the attack.
Police have taken a person of interest in for questioning while the investigation continues. Authorities asked locals to stay away from the area until it is declared safe.
The incident has shocked the small waterfront town, which is about 30 miles south of Wilmington. It also adds to the growing number of shootings across the United States this year in public places once considered safe.
