‘Why Immigrants Over Americans’: Senators Ask TCS

Indian origin global IT giant Tata Consultancy Services TCS is one of the leading operators in the industry across the world. However, it appears that the strict legislation that the United States has started to take on immigrant population is starting to have its effect on the operations of TCS as well.

According to the latest reports, two U.S. Senators Chuck Grassley and Dick Durbin, have questioned Tata Consultancy Services about its hiring practices in America.

Reportedly, they sent a letter with nine questions asking if the company replaced American workers with H-1B visa holders. On top of that, they even asked whether H-1B employees are paid fairly, and if job postings are transparent internally in the company.

The senators pointed out that TCS applied for as many as 5,505 H-1B visas in 2025 while also planning large layoffs at the same time. They also mentioned an ongoing investigation about possible discrimination against older U.S. workers.

Reportedly the Senators further asked if the company is replacing American workers with H1B Visa holders. The company has till October 10 to reply to this letter.
