Madhu’s Costly ChatGPT Mistake Inside Trump’s Administration

United States President Donald Trump did something interesting while forming his core team by appointing several Indian origin individuals to key positions in his administration.

One of Trump’s trusted associates in this new setup is Madhu Gottumukkala, who hails from Andhra Pradesh and is of Indian origin.

However, Madhu has now landed in trouble for the wrong reasons. He is accused of mishandling sensitive United States government documents by uploading them to ChatGPT.

Madhu was serving as the acting head of the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. In a shocking lapse, he allegedly uploaded internal government files to the public version of ChatGPT for work related purposes.

Although the documents were not classified, they were marked “For Official Use Only.” Due to this action, CISA contracts, cybersecurity related materials, and other sensitive documents were exposed to ChatGPT and potentially to external parties.

United States security agencies have taken serious note of the incident and launched a high priority investigation. The episode has raised concerns about how a senior official handling a critical national security role could make such a serious operational mistake.

Madhu is now likely to face legal consequences as the investigation progresses, with many questioning the safeguards in place while handling sensitive government information.
