Has Iran Really Agreed To Withdraw Nuclear Weapons ?

Ever since war has broken out between USA and Iran, a lot of diplomatic drama has been unfolding with either sides issuing conflicting statements to the media quite often. Even as a peace deal is on the line, they are still at loggerheads instead of putting an end to the ongoing escalation.

According to White House officials, Iran has agreed to a performance-based deal that would require major concessions before receiving any sanctions relief. The reports further claimed that Iran’s nuclear material would be destroyed and removed, its nuclear program dismantled, and none of its money released until it fulfills its commitments.

Also, Iran is said to have agreed to keep Strait of Hormuz open and also stop funding terrorist groups if US stops its military operations. However, Iran has categorically denied these claims and said they have not agreed to any such conditions.

In the meantime, US President Donald Trump has accused Iran of launching a drone attack against Indian ships traveling through the Strait of Hormuz. Calling the alleged incident totally unacceptable, he accused Iran of carrying the failed attacks against Indian ships. However, he did not share any specific evidence to back up his statement. As of now, Iranian officials have not publicly responded to the accusation.

It is unclear which ships he was referring to because a couple of incidents involving Indians happened in the last few days and three sailors have died in these attacks.

Aside from the ship attacks, President Trump also sharply criticized Iran over ongoing peace negotiations. He claimed that Iran leaked false details about a potential peace deal to the media. He insisted that what Iran told the public has nothing to do with the actual terms both sides had agreed to in writing, accusing Tehran of not acting honestly during the talks.

Trump ended his statement with a clear warning, stating that Iran needs to “get their act together, and FAST!”
