Hyd Brave Cab Driver Gets Permanent House In Australia

In December last year, Australia witnessed one of the worst terrorist attacks in its history when two armed individuals resorted to random shooting at the visitors of the famous Bondi beach in Sydney. The brutal attack killed 16 individuals and severely injured 40 odd people.

While the mass shooting brought disgrace to Hyderabad as the accused father and son alleged to have belonged to the city, another native of the same Hyderabad emerged as an unsung hero for saving nearly 20 lives after the attack unfolded.

The individual identified as Rahmat Pasha, a 37 year old cab driver, who was also present at the horrific site didn’t run away but spent nearly three hours helping victims and is credited with saving between 18 and 20 lives. Pasha was among the few eyewitnesses who helped the victims with timely intervention.

In recognition of his extraordinary courage, the Australian government has now granted Permanent Residency (PR) to Rahmat Pasha. This decision allows his wife and three young children, who currently live in Mehdipatnam, Hyderabad, to move and settle with him.

Beyond his permanent residency, Australia has honoured Pasha in several special ways by nominating him to bravery award and also displayed his cap at the Sydney museum.
