Indian Students Exploited By Criminal Gang in Canada?

In a shocking revelation, a secret report by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) claims that the notorious criminal outfit led by gangster Lawrence Bishnoi exploited Canada’s student and work visa system to build its network in the country.

According to the report, some young people from India were recruited after reaching Canada to take part in various criminal activities such as extortion, shootings and murder. The report says the gang expanded its operations across different parts of Canada. It is believed to have used local contacts to carry out illegal activities and strengthen its presence.

Officials also said the gang took advantage of weaknesses in the visa and immigration system. The report has raised concerns about better screening and monitoring of visa applicants. Canadian authorities are now looking at ways to improve security checks and stop criminal groups from misusing legal immigration routes. The report also highlights the need for stronger enforcement against organised crime.

Data in the report highlights a sharp rise in criminal charges involving individuals on study permits over recent years. Between 2019 and 2023, thousands of Indian citizens on student visas faced criminal charges in Canada, with a significant portion involving violent or organized crime offences.

The alarming observations made by the Canadian agency have now called for closer cooperation between India and Canada. Both countries are expected to work together to share information and prevent criminal networks from operating across borders.

The gang has already orchestrated several illegal activities and also claimed responsibility for the murder a few high profile individuals in the last few years. Despite the fact that Lawrence Bisnoi is languishing in Tihar jail in several cases, the gang operates beyond India because of other active members.
