Telangana Chief Secretary (CS) Somesh Kumar is involved in 290 Contempt of Court cases. This is the highest by any CS across the country but then he has the backing of CM KCR led TRS government. To deal with the Contempt Cases, the Telangana government has sanctioned Rs 59 crore for legal expenses.
A lecturer has filed a petition against the TRS government’s financial assistance to CS Somesh Kumar. Telangana High Court Chief Justice Hima Kohli and Justice Vijayasena Reddy have accepted the petition of the lecturer and were shocked upon knowing the facts of this case.
Objecting to the TRS government’s financial assistance, the High Court questioned how the government would spend the taxpayers money. “What are the treasury norms and we need details on how the treasury will allow this financial assistance,” asked the High Court.
Also the High Court has served notices to secretaries of finance and revenue departments and directors of treasury. The case has been postponed to October 27th.
The views of Telangana High Court make sense and Rs 59 crore is a big amount of public money. Until the case is resolved, the TRS government can’t afford to spend a single Rupee in CS Somesh’s Contempt cases.
