Modi’s Picture In SC Emails; Removed After Apex Court Objects

Complying with the directions of the Supreme Court, the National Informatics Centre (NIC) has removed the picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with a slogan ‘Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas Sabka Vishwas’ appended at the foot of the apex court’s official email. Modi’s image was replaced with that of the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court registry took notice that the official emails were carrying an image (of Modi) as footer which had no connection whatsoever with the functioning of the judiciary. The NIC which provides email services to the apex court was asked to drop that image, an official said.

Earlier, the decision to carry the image of Modi on the Covid-19 vaccination certificate also ran into controversy but the Union government stuck to it.

Many opposition parties that had gone to the polls recently protested against using Modi’s image on the vaccination certificates, terming it as an attempt to influence the voters.

In Maharashtra, NCP leader and minister Nawab Malik said that if the vaccination certificates had the picture of Modi then even the death certificates of Covid victims should also carry it.

In March this year, the Election Commission had directed all petrol outlets to remove hoardings carrying the image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as part of publicity to various central government schemes, from their premises ahead of the polls, stating that it was violation of the model code of conduct.
