Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is planning to expand its base in the state of Telangana. The central ruling party is leaving no stone unturned to increase the cadre in Telangana, especially after performing well in Dubbaka by-polls and GHMC elections. As per the latest buzz, BJP leaders are sketching a ‘Very Very Special’ plan in India’s youngest state.
According to the sources, Hyderabad-based former cricketer VVS Laxman is all set to join the saffron brigade. Fondly called as Very Very Special Laxman, this cricketer had played many memorable innings in his career. He announced his retirement in 2012. Since 2013, he is mentoring Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL and also working as a commentator under the BCCI.
It is being reported that BJP leaders Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay are holding talks with Laxman for the last few days. It seems that Laxman is also showing interest in joining the party.
He is currently in Dubai as a part of the commentary team of the T20 World Cup. It is heard that he will join BJP in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah once he flies back to India.
Apparently, Laxman will also be offered an MLA ticket from a constituency in the GHMC region. However, neither BJP nor Laxman has responded to these reports until now.
Former cricketers like Navjot Singh Siddhu (Indian National Congress), Mohammed Azharuddin (Indian National Congress), and Gautam Gambhir (BJP) are currently active in politics. Now, Laxman may join that list.
