KTR keeps his words to Specially-Abled Chess Player Malika

A week back i.e, on January 2nd, specially-abled Chess player from Punjab, Malika Handa, who has won a gold and two silver medals at the World Deaf Chess Championships took to her social media to express her disappointment over Punjab state government for not granting cash reward and government job despite such achievements.

The video of Malika went viral and many criticized the Punjab government for their policies towards specially-abled sportspersons. But then Malika received unexpected reactions from every corner of the country.

Telangana IT minister KTR who came across this video, assured to help her in his personal capacity. Malika landed in Hyderabad on Monday morning and she was welcomed at Pragathi Bhavan.

KTR met Malika and handed her a cheque of Rs 15 Lakh and a laptop too. “Kept my promise to help the talented @MalikaHanda Ji. Met her today & extended financial support of ₹15 lakhs (in personal capacity) & gifted her a laptop which will help her in preparation for future championships,” tweeted KTR.

KTR then requested union sports minister Anurag Thakur to consider a government job for Malika. “Request Sports Minister @ianuragthakur Ji to get her a Govt job,” added KTR.

Hope the Union Sports minister seriously looks into the case of Malika who is a rare talent and such sports personalities should be encouraged.
