About two and half months back, Telangana CM KCR announced Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (TIMS) to treat the Covid-19 patients. But after that there was no update on it. However in the recent times, the Covid-19 new cases are massively increasing in the state and this has forced the Telangana government to step up the works for TIMS.
And finally after a long wait, TIMS has come into operational from Monday. Telangana health minister Eatala Rajendra shared the video of TIMS and the facilities provided in it. This is a much relieving step considering the clear ignorance of TRS government in handling Covid-19 crisis.
Also the Telangana government has recruited new staff for this institute.
The 14-storey sports complex in Gachibowli which was lying idle for years, has been converted into TIMS. Initially the government planned to make it a quarantine centre but as suggested by the experts, the cases of Covid-19 could pile in future, the government made it into a hospital.
TIMS has 1,224 beds and out of it 1,000 of them have oxygen line facility while ventilators are provided for 100 beds.
