AP minister Mekapati Goutham Reddy who passed away last week following a heart-stroke, was handling Industries, Commerce, Information Technology, Skill Development and Training, Infrastructure and Investments portfolios. It was an important portfolio and so Jagan allotted it to Goutham being one of the highly qualified persons in the entire cabinet.
On Thursday, Jagan took a call on the portfolios being handled by Mekapati Goutham and allotted them to four ministers. Animal Husbandry minister Sidiri Appalaraju was given IT Industries, Skill Development while Education Minister Adimulapu Suresh has been given charge of Law and Justice.
AP Finance minister Bugganna Rajendranath Reddy will now handle Public Enterprises and NRI Empowerment and Agriculture Minister Kursala Kannababu has been given the General Administration department portfolio.
With budget Assembly sessions scheduled to commence from March 7th, Jagan made the allotments to ministers. Apparently YCP folks believed that the portfolio of Goutham would be vacant for another couple of months since Jagan has plans for cabinet expansion.
Ahead of the Assembly sessions, the AP cabinet was supposed to meet today. But being the 11th day (Pedda Karma) of Goutham, the cabinet meeting has been cancelled and it will take place on March 7th before the sessions commence.
