AP High Court Jails 8 IAS Officers But..

In a sensational verdict the AP High Court has sentenced 8 IAS officers to jail for not obeying the court orders. Going into details, in the past, the High Court has ordered for removal of village and ward secretariats in government run schools. These orders were issued by the High Court in 2020 and the eight IAS officers ignored the court orders.

For ignoring the orders, the High Court fumed at the IAS officers and opined that this Contempt of Court. Initially the High Court awarded two weeks of jail for all the eight IAS officers but later modified it with the bureaucrats tendering an apology to the High Court.

The eight IAS officers are identified as MM Nayak, Vijay Kumar, Gopal Krishna Dwivedi, Sri Lakshmi, Shyamala Rao, Girija Shankar, Rajasekhar and Chinaveerabhadrudu.

The High Court asked the IAS officers to do service for a day in social welfare hostels for the whole year and also summoned them to incur the expenses of mid-day and dinner meals of the students.

This verdict by the High Court can send strong signals to other bureaucrats and officials who try to snub the court directives.
