Hyderabad Mayor Tests Corona Positive

Hyderabad’s first citizen and city mayor Bonthu Rammohan has tested positive for Covid-19. Rammohan along with his family members underwent rapid antigen tests yesterday. While he has tested positive for Covid, his family members tested negative.

This is the third time Mayor Rammohan has undergone the Corona test. While he had tested negative the last two times, this time he has tested positive. Rammohan is asymptomatic and hence has been under home quarantine.

Though Rammohan is in self isolation, he is making sure that work doesn’t get affected. According to media reports, Rammohan is conducting reviews of various government works of GHMC and constantly monitoring the progress of the works through video conferences.

As rains are creating havoc in the last three days in various parts of the city, Mayor Rammohan has asked the GHMC officials to increase the preventive measures to stop the rise of mosquitoes that led to various diseases such as dengue, malaria and others. He asked GHMC officials to up the fogging and anti-larval operations.

Earlier Telangana Home Minister and Deputy CM Mahmood Ali had tested positive for Covid and had later recovered and tested negative. Last month, Deputy Speaker Padma Rao, and four other MLAs also tested positive for Corona. This shows how rapidly the virus is spreading in the city.
