Another day, another ‘Advisor’ appointed by the Jagan-led YSRCP government in Andhra Pradesh. Aluru Sambasivareddy, husband of YSRCP Singanamala MLA Jonnalagadda Padmavathi and Secretary, AP School Education Regulatory and Monitoring Commission, has now been appointed as the Advisor to the Education Ministry. As per the latest G.O. dated 16th Oct, 2022, Sambasivareddy has also been given a cabinet rank.
Sambasivareddy’s appointment as Advisor will come into effect from the 1st of November, a day after his tenure as the Secretary ends. As part of his fresh appointment, Sambasivareddy will be granted a whopping Rs 20 lakh to purchase a new car and another Rs 3 lakh to procure furniture for official use.
Furthermore, Rs 25,000 to purchase a laptop and Rs 1.50 lakh to purchase kitchen appliances will be granted to the new Advisor along with the appointment of a Private Secretary and Additional PS and six other personal staff members. In case the Advisor uses his personal car for official purposes, he will be reimbursed Rs 25,000 per month and another Rs 1 lakh if he resides in his own house.
Sambasivareddy’s appointment comes a couple of months after the Andhra Pradesh High Court rapped the Jagan government for appointing a big number of Advisors. Chief Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra called them “extra-constitutional forces” and also assured an in-depth inquiry into the appointment of advisors and wastage of lakhs of rupees of public money towards their salaries and various other “special facilities”.
