Looks like the hurdles for Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme (RLIS) are piling up as the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has decided to reopen the case on it. Already a citizen of Telangana has filed a case against this project and the NGT has reserved its verdict on it.
Freshly the Telangana state government has filed one more petition and added that the NGT did not hear its arguments in detail and so more time should be allotted to place their points against the project. Accepting the petition of the Telangana government, the NGT reportedly said it would hear all the arguments on August 28th. Justice Ramakrishna led bench has taken by the case.
RLIS is the dream of AP CM YS Jagan which aims to provide water to 19 Lakh acres in four Rayalaseema districts. Sometime back the YCP government has invited tenders for the completion of this project and three days back, a joint venture of SPML – NCC has bagged the contract.
