Even as YSRTP leader YS Sharmila is fast becoming a new headache for CM KCR, Telangana politics has heated up once again with an unexpected twist. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has telephoned Sharmila on Tuesday and expressed regret over her recent arrest by Telangana police.
During their conversation, Sharmila reportedly told Modi about the injustice meted out to her during her arrest. Modi reportedly extended his sympathies to Sharmila over the ill treatment and praised the way she held her nerve during her arrest. Furthermore, Modi reportedly invited Sharmila to New Delhi to discuss her future course of action.
Interacting with the media after her conversation with Modi, Sharmila thanked the prime minister for his concern and also said that not just the PM alone but each and every person in Telangana is behind her today after the nasty treatment given to her by the Telangana government.
Already, several prominent TRS leaders have been calling Sharmila a BJP agent. KCR’s daughter and MLC Kavitha directly took potshots at Sharmila recently, calling her a “BJP parrot”. In this scenario, Modi’s phone call to Sharmila surely asserts TRS’ allegations. Whether or not BJP will openly field Sharmila as their trump card to counter KCR and TRS ahead of the 2024 general elections will be known after Sharmila’s meet with Modi.
