Jagan’s B’Day: Rs 2.5 Crs Sanctioned For Celebrations?

A day after the Union government served a warning to AP on the debts, the YCP government has decided to celebrate AP CM Jagan’s birthday on a grand scale by burning the state’s treasury. A sum of Rs 2.50 crore has been sanctioned reportedly to celebrate Jagan’s birthday.

Accordingly the YCP government planned to host many cultural events and artists from various backgrounds were invited. But the AP government has to pay an old balance of Rs 4 crore to cultural artists and keeping this payment on hold, the state government is busy with arrangements for Jagan’s birthday.

To encourage the cultural and folk artists, the YCP government initiated ‘Nataka Parishath.’ But hardly one or two events were held in the last three and half years. After Roja took over the tourism department, a couple of review meetings were held but no concrete steps were taken to support the artists.

Apparently Jagan’s birthday celebrations kicked off a month in advance. Tourism department led by minister Roja has organised many events across the state. Rs 2 crore was allotted to cultural celebrations and Rs 50 Lakh for sports activities. The price money for winners and solo winners were also fixed at state level, constituency and zonal level. The state government planned to announce winners on 20th of this month and hand over the trophies along with prize money.

While this is one case, here is another bizarre case. On Jagan’s birthday, the officials reportedly are pressuring students for blood donation. A special website is launched for the registration of educational institutes under this blood donation camp. Nodal officers of community development boards in universities are overseeing this website and they are demanding the educational institutes to enroll in blood donation drive. With the top level pressure, the college managements approached the students to take part in blood donation.

And in Tirupati’s SVU, huge banners wishing Jagan were erected all over the university. In Anantapur’s Raptadu, volunteers are given the task of gathering the public for the meeting. The local YCP leaders are behind volunteers.
