Telugu Desam Party leader Nara Lokesh is all set to launch his padayatra ‘Yuva Galam’ on January 27. The TDP national general secretary would cover 4000 km from Kuppam in Chittoor district to Icchapuram in Srikakulam district in 400 days, which means he would walk for 10-12 km every day.
In this background, the TDP digital media managers brought out a video wherein Jagan’s mother and YCP former honorary president Y.S. Vijayamma is found saying that she had never seen any government that tried to create hurdles for the walkathon of the opposition leaders. These comments were made by Vijayamma when Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao tried to create hurdles and prevent her daughter Y.S. Sharmila from taking up her walkathon ‘Maro Prasthanam’ in that state.
Further, Vijayamma said that a healthy government would allow the opposition leaders to raise their voice but not stifle it.
Incidentally, Vijayamma’s statements criticising KCR hold good for her son and AP Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy too, as the YCP had been trying to impede Lokesh’s walkathon through various means.
Reportedly, Jagan directed his party men to abstain from making any remarks against Lokesh’s padayatra but issued GO No 1 banning rallies and roadshows in the state. The opposition challenged the GO and the court suspended it temporarily.
There was buzz that the YCP government issued the GO only to create trouble for Lokesh’s yatra.
However, the YCP leaders said that there was no need to stop Lokesh’s yatra as it would not have much impact on the people. The GO was issued to save people”s lives as 11 people died in stampedes during Opposition leader N. Chandrababu Naidu’s roadshows in Kandukur and Guntur recently, the ruling party men said.
There are reports that police permission is also pending for Lokesh’s yatra.
Now, it has to be seen if Jagan would heed to his mother’s advice and stop creating hurdles for Lokesh.
