There is a saying that there are no permanent friends and enemies in politics. Whenever the political circumstances heat up in the country this quotation is often heard. At the 70th birthday of Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin, politics took the centre stage instead of celebrating the birthday and Stalin himself raked up this discussion.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Uttar Pradesh ex-CM Akhilesh Yadav, Jammu & Kashmir ex-CM Farooq Abdullah, Bihar deputy CM Tejaswi Yadav landed in Chennai for Stalin’s birthday and addressed a public gathering hosted marking the event.
Speaking on this occasion, Farooq Abdullah invited Stalin to national politics. However, the Tamil Nadu CM politely declined this proposal but made key comments that all opposition parties should unite against the BJP.
Stalin reminded that the 2024 Lok Sabha elections are very crucial for the future of the country. If the separatists are not defeated, there will be trouble. He appealed to all opposition parties to work together realizing that no party should come to power rather than any party to take power.
The Tamil Nadu CM also clarified that it is not possible to imagine an alliance without Congress. Stalin said that it is better to make alliances before the elections than to look at the calculations after the elections. He reiterated that DMK’s association will continue with Congress.
At this event, Telangana CM KCR and AP CM YS Jagan Reddy were not seen even though the DMK party has sent invitations to the Telugu states CMs. There is an impression in DMK and Tamil Nadu politics that AP CM Jagan is moving close to BJP and so he doesn’t utter a word against PM Modi or the policies of the NDA government.
On the other hand, Telangana CM KCR who floated BRS is trying to enter Tamil Nadu politics. He met a bunch of leaders from TN and discussed the political situation in the state. For the same reason, DMK factions have maintained distance from BRS and moreover many leaders of DMK have an opinion that KCR has a soft corner for BJP and him going against PM Modi is not believable.
