BJP and TDP alliance wins in Port Blair

Telugu Desam party played a kingmaker role in the Port Blair Municipal Council election and this has given a huge boost for the BJP to take hold of the Port Blair municipality. Going into details, in the municipal elections, BJP and Congress won 10 seats each while Telugu Desam secured two seats and DMK won one seat. The remaining one was secured by an independent candidate.

DMK backed Congress and its tally went up to 11 and this is when the Telugu Desam’s two seats turned crucial. The TDP after holding discussions with party leadership, decided to support the BJP. With TDP’s support, BJP’s tally went up to 12, thus an alliance was formed between the two parties.

Acknowledging the same, BJP National President JP Nadda tweeted, “Congratulations to the BJP-TDP alliance on this impressive victory in the Port Blair Municipal Council election. Your hard work & dedication for the people of Port Blair have paid off & this victory is a testament to the trust that the people have in PM @narendramodi Ji’s vision.”

This alliance of BJP and TDP has some impact on Telugu states. Simultaneously both parties want to get into power in the next elections. The BJP is looking to oust BRS in Telangana while TDP wants to take down YSRCP with the help of BJP and Jana Sena.

Overall the atmosphere looks positive between BJP and Telugu Desam.
